Bosloe's Creative Chaos
An MC Who Cares
The Tale Behind The Tale
When I began writing The Amatherean Tales, I made a deliberate choice: my main character would be grounded in reality. SJ is based on a real person, and while I've taken the usual creative liberties, her thoughts, feelings, and reactions remain authentically human.
This approach hasn't always sat comfortably with everyone. Some readers have questioned her choices, challenged her behaviours, or felt frustrated when she doesn't respond the way a typical genre protagonist might. A few have been rather more blunt in their assessments.
But that's precisely the point.
SJ isn't a power fantasy. She's not optimised for efficiency or min-maxed for combat. She's a person, complete with hesitation, moral complexity, and the occasional questionable decision that made perfect sense at the time. The story doesn't follow the standard LitRPG template because she doesn't. And I think that's what makes her journey worth following more than anything else.
I chose realism over convention, and I stand by that choice.
I hope you enjoy the Tale.
The Amatherean Tales

In this portal fantasy, an accountant reincarnated as a fae assassin must battle, barter, and grind to survive in a world filled with magical dangers.
When forensic accountant SJ is crushed by a rogue tree on her way home from the local pub, her death is as absurd as it is abrupt. But fate has a twisted sense of humour: instead of being sentenced to eternal oblivion, SJ’s reborn in Amathera—a vibrant fantasy landscape full of magic, monsters, and a game-like System that really wishes she hadn’t read the fine print.
Armed with her sassy and overly sarcastic AI companion, Dave, and the questionable skills of a fae assassin, SJ is thrust into this mystical new world. But there’s one problem: she never agreed to the terms and conditions, and now she’s the one person operating completely free of the System’s rules. Drawing the attention of local gods, dragons, and everything in between, she’s destined to become an Amatherean celebrity.
With oddities such as high-level enemies and unique gear drops at every turn, finding her footing will be no easy task in this place where reputation matters. SJ will need Dave’s guidance if she wants to level up and survive the challenges thrown her way. Only then can she help the inhabitants of her quaint starter town of Killic and begin to uncover the complex mysteries of Amathera.
And as outside pressures mount, SJ’s starting to realise her death was only the first glitch in the System . . .

An unlikely hero is embroiled in village politics, a fantastical war, and an orphan’s vengeful quest in the second book of this portal fantasy series.
After a hobgoblin raid leaves the town of Killic in disarray, fae assassin SJ and her AI sidekick, Dave, know they’ll need to devise a strategic counterstrike. But when Cristy—a gnoll left orphaned by the attack—takes things into her own hands, a fierce war suddenly erupts at their doorstep.
As the battle rages on, SJ makes another troubling discovery: the level cap around Killic has doubled, allowing overpowered Legionnaires, mighty wyverns, and mysterious assassins to stir up even more trouble in the once-idyllic starter town. Since she rejected the System’s terms and conditions, strange trials have popped up all around her, but she’s never faced such dangerous enemies before.
Newly appointed to Killic’s council, SJ must be equal parts diplomat and warrior. The fate of the town and her new companions depends on her shrewdness and grit. But she has her sights set higher than just survival . . . She’ll do everything possible to wield the chaos to achieve glory.

An accountant-turned-assassin must determine if the books still balance when a bounty is placed on her own head in the third book of this fantasy series.
Asterfal is a city of staggering contrasts: high glamour and abject destitution, corrupt politicians and an exploited working class, ostentatious greed and quiet suffering. SJ arrives set to be inaugurated into the city’s council as the ambassador of Killic. But she quickly earns a reputation as a benevolent figure and enemy to debauchery and abuse, drawing attention from unsavoury characters and bad actors willing to do anything to maintain control of Asterfal’s streets.
This attention comes in the form of multiple assassination attempts on SJ’s life by the city’s criminal elite. And while she endeavours to avoid being the primary target on their hit list, her travelling companion Cristy discovers her uncle Lurtew has been abducted. Along with SJ’s driver, Jay, they infiltrate the world of criminals and unscrupulous officials, tracking Lurtew to a brutal underground fighting ring where they must negotiate with treacherous foes for his freedom.
As if all that weren’t enough, chaos ensues when a secret plot is born from an alliance between fae and dark elves, and a host of manipulated financial records is uncovered. Now, SJ will need to harness tools from both of her lives—the accountant’s eye for a false ledger and the assassin’s skill with a blade—to survive. It seems the fate of the city depends on her balancing the deadliest books of all . . .
